Generations X and Y are struggling to understand the Baby
Boomer generation in much the way the Boomers tried to
understand their parents and grandparents. The secret lies
within the past pop-culture. This video of children in the
1950s is used as the setting for Bucky Covington’s "A
Different World".

Use this video in diversity or generation workshops to spur
discussion. Have participants to compare their experiences
in growing up. Some questions to ask include:

  • “What were your views of playing outside?”

  • “How were you disciplined by your parents?”

  • “What types of disappointments did you experience
    growing up?”

Adding videos will invoke the use of another sensory point to
make your presentation more interesting and memorable.
